The Center for Teen Empowerment, Inc. (TE) inspires young people and the adults who work with them to think deeply about the most difficult social problems in their schools and communities, and gives them the tools they need to work with others in creating significant positive change. At TE's youth organizing sites, in Boston and Somerville, MA, and Rochester, NY, youth and adult staff bring authentic youth voice into the dialogue about improving their communities, mobilize the energy of urban youth to create meaningful change, and facilitate mutually respectful relationships between youth and adults.

The Director of Administration & Finance is an important part of the foundation that allows the work at the youth organizing sites to happen. Working with the Executive Director, this person handles or supervises the handling of all financial transactions and personnel matters. This person is a member of the management team and is responsible for providing information and maintaining awareness among the staff and Board of Directors of TE’s financial and personnel needs and capacities. This position is full time, with full benefits.

Duties include the following.
Finance & Accounting:
· Accounts receivable – supervise Office Manager and fill in when needed
· Billing for government contracts – prepare monthly/quarterly requests for payment
· Accounts payable, petty cash – sign checks/approve online payments, supervise Office Manager and fill in when needed
· Banking - record bank deposits and manage account levels, reconcile monthly statements

Budget: create first draft and coordinate process
Audit: prepare schedules, collect documents, coordinate process
Payroll: create bi-weekly payroll, update employee information, liaison with payroll service
Human Resources: handle all aspects, including reporting to government agencies
Office Management: supervise Office Manager and confer on decisions about purchases
Insurance: handle all aspects, health as well as commercial policies
Leases: assist in drafting/negotiating, coordinate process of signing
Board of Directors: staff to the Audit Committee & Executive Committee, other liaison responsibilities, with some evening meetings
Management: participate in the Management Team, including short and long range planning

 Qualifications:

· bachelor’s or higher degree in business or accounting, or comparable professional experience,

· 2-3 years experience in non-profit setting preferred,

· ability to take responsibility for own work

· ability to manage many details and deadlines, competing demands on time, keep calm

· commitment to social change
