DESCRIPTION:
The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middlesex County (BGCMC) is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. The BGCMC is celebrating 35 years of service to youth and families with a revived, strong and energetic new leadership team. This is a great opportunity for the individual who wants to further develop his/her skills in all areas of development, including grant writing, special events, marketing & outreach.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Development Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of BGCMC’s fundraising activities. The organization seeks an individual w/ demonstrated success in identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding corporate and individual donors and foundations. *MUST HAVE AMAZING ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS & ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE CLEARLY, CONCISLY AND IN A COMPELLING MANNER ORALLY AND IN WRITING. *MUST ALSO HAVE A STRONG PASSION FOR YOUTH.
Primary Responsibilities
1) Implement annual development plan resulting in increased financial support for BGCMC’s programs and services. Plan to be developed by Development Coordinator in conjunction with Executive Director and the Board of Directors.
2) Coordinate all fund-raising activities which includes special events and the annual fund campaign. Dev. Coordinator will serve as the club’s liaison to special event committees and provide regular updates to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.
3) Maintain all records related to development and fundraising; coordinate all scheduling, notification and acknowledgements for all fundraising efforts.
4) Develop all grant and fund-raising proposals. Conduct grant research and grant submissions on a scheduled basis. Manage grant contracts and submit reports as needed.
5) Assist in establishing, maintaining and expanding BGCMC donor database through outreach.
6) Represent the BGCMC among external audiences in conjunction with the Executive Director including corporate and individual donors; government agencies; elected officials and representatives of foundations.
7) Utilize existing and future technologies to develop electronic newsletters; broadcast e-mails and other efficient electronic means to reach targeted audiences. Work in conjunction w/ the Executive Director to develop marketing materials; press releases and foster multimedia relations.

Provide direct supervision to temporary/part-time staff and/or volunteers as needed

Control fund raising expenditures against a fund raising budget.
Relationships
Internal: Maintain contact with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, Club staff, volunteers and Club members.
External: Maintain contact with potential and current donors, external community groups and others as required.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrated ability to:
• Maintain a high energy level.
• Be comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
• Regularly speak clearly and hear the spoken word as well.
• Regularly travel to appointments outside of the Club personally driving a motor vehicle.

Qualifications:
A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible development experience involving various constituencies.
Demonstrated success developing a major gifts program which secured
contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations. Knowledge of local and Massachusetts philanthropy is highly desirable.
Experience with Boys and Girls Club preferred; not for profit educational or social service organizations required.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a diverse environment , multi-task and work independently.
Education / Requirements /Skills
Bachelor’s degree preferred; will consider applicable work experience
Driver’s License and a Car required, some local and regional travel and the ability to work beyond traditional business hours are required.
Computer skills are essential; experience with Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and Power Point preferred. Web-based search engines and fund-raising software knowledge and aptitude required. Desktop publishing and web development knowledge a plus.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages and volume.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, donors and the general public.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
